White Board Animation Video Explainer

Today, people get involved in studying new material, sharing information, and communicating in a variety of ways, and whiteboard animation is one of them. This technique introduces a video style with static images to be drawn on the screen (dry-erase whiteboard) and accompanied by narrations (Warren & Wooding, n.d.). Main whiteboard animation video explainer benefits are simple illustration, strong content, and interesting delivery (Wahyuningsih, 2020; “Whiteboard animation,” n.d.). However, if a person makes a decision to create this video independently, much work should be planned and discussed with a team. In this proposal, the roles of three participants in doing a whiteboard animation project will be defined and explained.

There has to be one individual (A) who should make final decisions and lead the project. Another person (B) must have a solid technical background to work with software and programs with the help of which all ideas are transmitted on the screen. The third person (C) is a kind of art director who is responsible for script development, visual properties, and other illustrative aspects. In the table below, there is a plan of work and potential participants’ contributions:

Step Task Participant
Script development – brainstorm and identify the project scope
– choose characters
– develop a great plot with a specific hook, message, and call to action (if necessary)
A, C
Storyboard – introduce the sequence of each scene A
Animation style choice – define colors
– draw images
– choose backgrounds
C
Tools and animation – choose software
– establish a program
– drag visuals
– add visual and sound effects
– mind transitions
B
Review and editing – watch the result
– make notes
– consider improvements
A
C
B
