Home Depot: Organizational Change

The Home Depot is the biggest specialized shop for home renovations in the whole globe. The Firm controlled 2,298 Home Depot retail locations (Repko,2020) as of the end of the second quarter, spread over all 50 countries, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provincial capitals, and Mexico. Throughout early spring, Americans have been spending extra time at household, ultimately finishing up maintenance tasks, making remodeling purchases, or getting inspired to renovate their backyard or turn a space into a household workplace. This has helped The Home Depot because individuals enjoy gardening and better weather; spring is likewise the busiest time of year for retailers. The company has undergone a distinct transformation in that the employees are now trained to utilize technological equipment. When the COVID-19 epidemic broke out, there were more sales overall at the workplace.

The decision to implement organizational change at the team level at Home Depot was made to improve the organization’s capability for team development. The specific team-building activity was carried out by employing technologically assisted problem-solving challenges. It’s just that team building is a cooperative activity that promotes communication and collaboration. It may help to strengthen bonds and connections between team members and problem-solving abilities (Ocasio, 2022). The intervention was effective as it touched many people, including personnel. The fact that the whole company and all Home Depot employees could execute the intervention made it compelling. During the pandemic’s onset, the personnel could instruct others on using technology.

Regarding the training intervention employed by the Home Depot company, various persons had varying viewpoints. Because most of the staff were kept on by the organization throughout the pandemic because they had the necessary abilities to work, they responded well to the intervention. Additionally, some consumers answered with negative beliefs and others with positive ones. Most respondents were pleased with the organization’s prompt delivery of products and services and commended it. The staff’s failure to adjust to the new technology demands led to negative feedback, which made the delivery of the products and services sluggish.

Human process intervention is amongst the interventions I could have suggested. Those treatments concentrate on the fundamentals of individual interaction and team success. They may be used to change how a person, like a manager, interacts with employees or even how they interact with each other (Himani, 2022). They may be utilized to break destructive tendencies, create positive behaviors, and raise overall self-esteem. Group interventions examine how groups are formed and operate to accomplish their objectives. Instances of interventions include the assessment and treatment of intergroup communications or the use of crew techniques to alter group dynamics.

Similar initiatives might potentially be directed at large groups, such as administrators, workers, and stakeholders. The administrators could be required to speak with a third party in certain circumstances. This can be the result of “observer bias” taking hold. That only corresponds to the general readiness of people to experience whatever they anticipate having experienced. Consultants provide both a fresh viewpoint and a fresh approach to the problem.

In conclusion, organizational change has a significant effect on an organization. Home Depot has used technology tools that have substantially aided the company and employed employee training as a change mechanism. Sales during the COVID-19 pandemic have grown due to this technological shift; therefore, change in any company is essential for the relationship between the business and its clients.
